Once power is restored, you can reconnect your battery and your alarm system should work as before. Go to your main control box and disconnect the battery supply, which will stop all beeping and shut your alarm system down.If you do not wish to have to continuously re-enter your code, you can try the second option below. ![]() Insert the new batteries, and make sure the contact points are facing the right direction. Press and hold the Test/Reset button for 10 seconds to fully discharge the detector. Your system will continue to beep every 4-6 hours to remind you that you are running on battery power at which time you will have to re-enter your code to silence until your battery is completely dead. If it’s locked, you may need to remove the tamper-resistant locking pin. To do this, enter your code as if you were disarming your system to reset the panel.
